Scott F. Cooney is a
professional actor/director turned teacher who refuses to accept
mediocrity when it comes to the actor’s art. He received his BA in Theatre with a minor in Dance from Rowan University in 2002. As
an actor, he has been trained in several methods of acting and has
performed in everything from Children’s Theatre to Shakespeare. He began coaching and directing students in 2004 and received his Masters in Education in 2007. He
took over the head coaching job of Northern Burlington’s Drama and
Forensic Team in 2008 and 2009, guiding his students to several awards and
trophies, including the Governor’s Award for Best Dramatic Monologue in
2008 and Governor’s Award for Best Scene in 2009, both pieces he
directed. The Governor’s Award is the highest honor a high school student can receive in arts education.
