Printing/Graphic Communications

  • Printing/Graphic Communications allows students to function in an atmosphere that approximates the environment in the printing industry. The focus of the course is to prepare students for a successful lifetime of work and learning in the graphics industry.  In addition to skills and knowledge, the shop fosters important attitudinal skills such as motivation, interest, a desire to succeed in graphics, a sense of pride, and quality craftsmanship.  The students successfully completing this program will graduate prepared with entry level skills as an offset press operator, graphic arts process camera operator, film assembler (stripper), and plate maker. Among the skills to be acquired are press operation, press maintenance, camera operation, negative stripping, paste-up, plate making, and bindery operations.  The students will have a thorough introduction into computer Desktop Publishing.
