CAREER MAJORS & EXPLORATORY PROGRAM
-
BCIT offers 33 exciting career majors and students will participate in the Exploratory Program to assist them in selecting their permanent major choice. The Exploratory Program allows each new student to sample four different career majors during the first marking period of his or her initial year at BCIT. Students will spend about 10 days in each of the four areas getting an overview of the career, practicing entry level skills and learning what it takes to be successful in that career major. Students will select their four exploratory choices during the admission process. At the conclusion of the exploratory cycle the student's academic record will be evaluated, and with the advice of his/her parent/guardian, he/she will be placed in a permanent career major.
The School of Performing Arts: Once an applicant has met all admission criteria and been accepted to BCIT, they will be required to audition for acceptance into this career major. Students accepted into the School of Performing Arts will not explore other career majors.
