Can I still participate in Marching Band if I attend BCIT?
Just as with athletics, a student can participate in a program at his or her sending school if program is not offered at BCIT. If a student is told otherwise, they should contact the BCIT Admissions department immediately so we may advocate on the student’s behalf.

Can I still play sports if I attend BCIT?
BCIT offers a variety of sports at each campus. If a sport is not offered at BCIT, students are eligible to play that sport at their home school in accordance with NJSIAA regulations. BCIT does not provide transportation to your sending district for practices or games. Please contact your sending district’s transportation department for possible options for transporting back to district for games and practices.

I am interested in the Performing Arts. Do I have to audition?
Yes! The Academy of Performing Arts auditions prospective students after the students have been accepted to BCIT from an academic standpoint.

I started high school at another school. Can I transfer to BCIT?
Some programs must be started as a freshmen (Sports Medicine, Allied Health, Dental Occupations, and Cosmetology) in order to acquire enough hours to qualify to take their industry-based certification/licensing exam. There are limited course offerings for juniors and seniors. If a student previously attended a Career and Technical Education school in another county or state, please contact the Office of Admissions to inquire about transferring to BCIT. Please note that transfers are evaluated on an individual basis and depend on the course sequence at the previous school and similar course offerings.

How many students are accepted to BCIT each year?
Each year, BCIT can accept approximately 600 freshmen: 250 to the Medford campus and 350 to the Westampton campus. The number of available spots for sophomores varies each year, but is typically less than 60 total sophomores accepted between both campuses.

How are applicants evaluated for admission to BCIT?
Students are evaluated based on their current grades, current attendance and current behavior records as well as their previous year grades, previous year attendance, and previous year behavior in addition to a computer-adaptive entrance exam in mathematics and language arts. This exam also serves to place students into their academic classes at BCIT.

How do I apply to BCIT?
Fill in the application found on the Admissions Homepage. Our application is fully online, so students/parents can fill it out and upload the required documents to expedite the student’s application process. Paper applications may also be submitted, but require an additional 2-3 weeks to process. Applications are not complete until a student supplies the Office of Admissions with the following documents and takes an Admissions Exam:

Your school records can be obtained by contacting your school’s guidance department. Some schools participate in our online application system and can quickly send us these documents. Please inquire with your school regarding their participation in this process.

Does the BCIT dress code apply to the Career Major Area?
Certain career major programs require additional personal protective equipment that can usually be worn over your daily, dress code-compliant clothing. Please see the Parent/Student Handbook for details on each career major for which the student is interested in attending.

Is there a dress code at BCIT?

Do you allow prospective students to shadow current BCIT students?
Due to the safety of our current and prospective students, we do not allow non-enrolled students to shadow current students or tour the building without their parent or guardian present.

Can I tour the BCIT campus?
Of course! If students are interested in having a small group tour of either campus, please email admissions@burlcoschools.org to schedule a convenient time to visit a campus during the regular school day; all students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We also offer two Discovery Nights at each campus so that students/parents can see the school and programs as well as meet the teachers and staff. Please follow our Twitter and Facebook pages to be made aware of these dates in October and February.

How many students attend BCIT?
During the 2018-2019 school year, there were approximately 870 students at the Medford campus and 1300 students attending the Westampton campus.

How do I know which campus I will attend?
You are assigned a campus based on the municipality in which you live, unless you have selected a career major that is only offered at a particular campus. Please see this link for your default campus

How much does it cost to attend BCIT?
BCIT is a free, public high school option for Burlington County students. Costs associated with attending BCIT are covered by your sending school, including transportation.

Where is BCIT located?
Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT) has two locations: Medford and Westampton. The Medford campus is located off of Route 70 at 10 Hawkin Road. The Westampton campus is off of Route 541 at 695 Woodlane Rd. Students are assigned a campus based on the municipality in which they live, unless the student selects a career major that is only offered at a particular campus. What is Career and Technical Education?
The NJ Department of Education defines Career and Technical education (CTE) as a program that “prepares students to succeed as global citizens for career opportunities for the 21st Century and to support healthy economic growth.” CTE allows students to learn a skill in high school that can lead directly to employment or further education including a 4-year college.
