Electrical Trades I provides foundational knowledge and skills in residential and commercial electrical wiring.

  • Curriculum Includes:

    • Residential Wiring: Covers the principles and practices of residential electrical wiring, including:

      • Circuit breaker panels

      • Wiring methods (conduit, cable)

      • Outlet and switch installation

      • Lighting circuits

    • Commercial Wiring: Introduces concepts related to commercial electrical systems, such as:

      • Power distribution systems

      • Motor controls

      • Lighting systems in commercial buildings

    • Troubleshooting: Basic troubleshooting techniques for identifying and resolving electrical problems.

Electrical Trades II offers a deeper look into advanced electrical concepts and applications.

  • Key Topics:

    • Commercial Wiring:

      • Advanced concepts in commercial electrical wiring, including three-phase power, motor controls, and lighting systems for commercial buildings.

    • Related Technology:

      • May include topics such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical instrumentation, and power distribution systems.

    • Technical Math:

      • Applying mathematical concepts to electrical calculations, such as circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and power calculations.

    • Motor Controls:

      • Understanding and troubleshooting various types of electric motors, including AC and DC motors.

    • National Electrical Code (NEC) & Ohm's Law:

      • Continued emphasis on understanding and applying the NEC and fundamental electrical principles like Ohm's Law.
