Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration
This two semester course trains students to diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems.
Key Topics:
HVAC Theory: Principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigeration cycles.
System Operation: Operation of various HVAC systems, including:
Residential and commercial air conditioning systems (central air, window units)
Heating systems (furnaces, boilers, heat pumps)
Refrigeration systems (refrigerators, freezers)
Installation: Proper installation and maintenance procedures for HVAC equipment.
Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and repairing common HVAC system problems.
Safety Practices: Safe handling of refrigerants, electrical safety, and workplace safety procedures.
Hands-on Training:
Utilizes both computer simulators and actual HVAC components for hands-on training.
EPA Certification: Prepares students for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification exam required for handling refrigerants.
