Biomedical Science – Honors Academy
If you’re passionate about science, healthcare, or medical discovery, this is your chance to be part of something groundbreaking. We’re launching a brand-new Biomedical Science Program at BCIT Westampton, using the nationally recognized Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum.

This program is not part of the exploratory process. Students must apply and be accepted directly into the program as 9th graders. As an Honors Academy, all students will be required to take Honors and AP courses alongside their biomedical coursework, ensuring a rigorous and competitive academic experience.

Why Biomedical Science?
This program is designed for students who are curious, driven, and ready to explore anatomy, genetics, diagnostics, lab science, and biomedical innovation. You won’t just study science—you’ll do science through engaging, hands-on labs and real-world simulations starting in your first year.

What You’ll Experience in Year 1

  • Investigate a mysterious death by analyzing forensic evidence at a simulated crime scene using DNA, fingerprints, and medical data.

  • Dissect a preserved heart and learn how the body works—and what can go wrong.

  • Practice clinical care, measuring vital signs and analyzing patient histories to solve real-world medical puzzles.

  • Explore how infections spread and test treatments in a simulated outbreak investigation.

  • Learn to think like a biomedical scientist—from designing experiments to presenting your findings like a professional.
