New Students Kick Off the Year with Field Day!
Our new students participated in a fun-filled Field Day designed to build connections and strengthen the positive school culture we strive to create. Student Ambassadors helped lead activities throughout the day, welcoming their newest classmates and helping them feel part of the school community.

BCIT Construction Technology Students Put Their Skills to Work with Habitat for Humanity
Six BCIT Construction Technology students are taking their skills beyond the classroom and putting them to work for a meaningful cause.
Under the guidance of Construction Technology instructor Alberto Torres, three juniors and three seniors are heading to Camden to work alongside Habitat for Humanity on a home currently in the final stages of construction. Depending on the progress of the project, students may assist with flooring, painting, finishing work, site cleanup, and organizing tools and materials.
The experience gives students an opportunity to step onto an active construction site with their toolboxes and tool belts and approach the day just as they would a professional job. The skills they are developing in BCIT’s Construction Technology program are put into practice while students gain valuable hands-on experience in a real-world environment.
“I think one of the best parts of the experience is that the students are not only developing their construction skills, but they are also volunteering their time and using those skills to help a family in need,” said Torres.
Habitat for Humanity’s new home construction director, Vince, has also shared that he enjoys having BCIT students on the job site because they arrive prepared and willing to work.
For these students, the experience brings together career preparation, hands-on learning, and community service. It is work-based learning in action, giving students the opportunity to build their skills while helping build something that will make a lasting difference for a family.

Congratulations to BCIT Medford Graphic Arts and Design junior Olivia Brown, who earned 1st place nationally in the Division 5 Computer-Aided Design category of the 2026 National School Bus Safety Poster Contest.
Olivia first earned 1st place at the New Jersey state level in May for her poster celebrating this year’s theme, “Safe Rides, Everyday Heroes.” Her design then advanced to the national competition, where she took the top honor.
Olivia will be recognized during National School Bus Safety Week in October, and her winning poster will be featured as part of efforts to promote school bus safety.
